Precipice is an annual publication of the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine, created to push innovative thought within its community of clinicians.
The 2018 edition focuses on the challenges of leveraging community to provide the best patient care. We created a system of design elements and compositions inspired by Complex Adaptive Systems as a visual metaphor for the multitude of networks clinicians must connect to achieve excellence in care. We then pulled it together into the editorial layout.
This edition explores the constant battle with time that clinicians must face when providing care and the overall relevancy of Family Medicine in today's era of urgent cares and emergency rooms. We created a series of illustrations depicting the specific time concerns most affecting clinicians and leveraged these into a cohesive layout design.
